How long does it take to learn piano?
Students will have fun playing from the first day of lessons. Beginner progress will be quick and rewarding! Learning varies with each student and is often dependent on a variety of factors including age, skill level, lesson attendance and a consistent practice routine.
How often do I attend a lesson?
Lessons are scheduled at the same time every week.
What if I have to miss a lesson?
You may cancel and reschedule your lesson using the online calendar 24-7.
Are masks required for in-person lessons?
No, masks are optional.
How long are lessons?
30 minutes or 60 minutes. Beginner students will thrive with 30 minute lessons.
How much are lessons?
Lessons are paid on a monthly basis and are $132 per month for 30 minute lessons and $252 per month for 60 minute lessons. Tuition is due at the beginning of the month and does not change regardless of attendance. Staying committed to the lesson time is paramount for consistent musical growth. Extreme circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis and will be rescheduled or refunded.
Can I cancel and reschedule my lesson online?
Yes. Canceling and rescheduling lessons may be completed on the website calendar 24-7.
Can I cancel lessons after a month?
Yes. Lessons are contracted on a month to month basis and may be canceled at anytime for any reason.
Is there a Recital?
Yes. Students showcase their skill twice a year in a Winter and Spring Recital.
Is there additional events?
Yes. Jazz festival, Springfield and Sonatina- Sonata Festival
Are Summer lessons available?
Yes. Lessons are taught year round and may continue through the Summer months.
Do I need a piano to start?
Yes. There are two types, acoustic and digital.
What's the difference between an acoustic and digital piano?
Acoustic pianos are very large and heavy, have 88 keys that are weighted and require yearly tunings. Digital pianos are smaller, lighter, have 88 keys that are weighted and do not require yearly tunings. Digital pianos also come with other options like 61 keys, 71 keys, weighted and non-weighted keys, a variety of sounds, headphones port and did I mention lighter? A digital piano is a great alternative for beginners and very budget friendly.
Which Acoustic or Digital piano should I purchase?
There is an acoustic and digital piano package for every budget. Entry level digital piano packages include 66, full size non-weighted keys (under $200) and 88, full size, weighted keys (under $500) and can be found on Amazon.com, Musiciansfriend.com and Kraftmusic.com. Looking for better quality and sound? Casio Privia (Ford), Yamaha (Honda) and Roland (Lexus) are the industry standard in Digital pianos with a reputation for quality and craftmanship. Feel free to check out Amazon reviews or YouTube reviews or similar websites or take a trip to the local (or not so local) music store and try a few digital and acoustic pianos out.
Should I buy used or new?
Buying new is less risk than buying used. When buying used always ask to see and play the instrument before agreeing to purchase or sending money. Check out Craigslist.org, Ebay.com, Pianoadoption.com, Freecycle networks including your local online neighborhood community and local churches for free pianos.
How many keys do I need?
88 full size, weighted keys. You can get by with 61 keys, non-weighted for the first few months but you will eventually need to upgrade to 88 keys.
Can I rent an acoustic piano or digital piano?
Yes. Just call the local piano store for details. If you are renting an acoustic piano you will definitely want to pay for delivery, its heavy! Acoustic pianos also need to be tuned periodically so be prepared to spend more for these services.
Where are the piano deals?
Try craigslist.org, ebay.com, pianoadoption.com, nextdoor.com, local newspapers and neighborhood newsletters, church or community bulletin boards, friends, family that wish pass down a beloved piano.
